Oh, Hakeem, you have lost the war when you resort to tearing into one of the Trump administration’s most popular people. We do not even have to look at his personal attack as a man going after a woman, because Karoline can hold her own against any man or woman who dares to challenge her integrity. Republicans take great pride in the person who represents us every day behind the podium, who goes to battle against the media, who is hell-bent on tearing down our President by twisting and fabricating the truth into a false narrative. Whether that spokesperson is Tony Snow, Dana Perino, Kayleigh McEnany, or Karoline Leavitt, we on the Right have a special relationship with the official spokesperson of the President. These people have an extraordinary degree of honor that you will not find in their Democratic counterparts, like Jen Psaki or Karine Jeanne-Pierre. KJP was a pure DEI hire indicative of the Biden administration. She checked off female, black, gay, and, unfortunately for America, incompetent, which is why she finds herself unemployed and toxic nearly a year after leaving the podium. Her attempt at staying relevant was to write a tell-all book, burning every bridge she had to the Biden White House.
But here we have Hakeem Jeffries, the supposed leader of the House minority party, stooping so low as to unload a litany of insulting labels at Karoline Leavitt, who is not only fit to fight her own battles but intelligent enough to come back at her attacker in a way that will make him regret he chose the low road. Leavitt had used a string of descriptive labels to describe the people whom the Democrats have decided to protect rather than the American people. She was referring to the illegal or the immoral people, who the Biden administration had allowed to flow unvetted across our border 24/7 for four years. Jeffries twisted Leavitt’s words to be used against the people of the Democratic Party who work on Capitol Hill. This attack by Jeffries was a significant mistake and easily defended by a master messenger like Karoline Leavitt. He used those labels as weapons against Karoline, who turned them away easily, finally calling Hakeem Jeffries a Stone-Cold Loser for going down this path.
Jeffries and Chuck Schumer made a huge tactical error by creating this government shutdown on something as unpopular and indefensible as healthcare for illegal aliens, paid for with American tax dollars. They have painted themselves into a corner, with no viable solution for their unpopular demands. At some point, the Democrats are going to have to fall on the sword, vote for the House-passed CR, and come back to Washington to negotiate with the Republicans who hold all the face cards in this battle. There is no need to delve into the list of insults Hakeem threw at Karoline, but suffice it to say it was below his position as minority leader, but not below Jeffries as a person. He should apologize, but that will only augment the foolishness of his initial outburst. He and Schumer appear to be masters of their shortcomings, and the Republicans are feasting on their missteps. It will be satisfying to see how the Democrats pull themselves out of this mess they created. Stay tuned as we will have much to opine on in the days and weeks ahead.
Author’s note: I wrote this article at 3 AM while sitting in a hospital bed. My heart has decided to act up, as my cancer has for the last ten months. We will get through this setback, but these many trips to doctors and hospitals explain why my writing has not been at its consistent daily pace. With God’s grace, I will get back to good health and a regular schedule in short order. Ray
