The numbers from Minnesota are staggering, but with the same people doing the reporting on the magnitude of the Somali fraud cases, as the ones duped by the Somali cartel, can you trust their findings? The latest estimates are in the billions of dollars of Minnesota resident tax dollars that were stolen from various government ttaken from multiple relief programs, including COVID-19 Relief, and the people charged with safeguarding them are as guilty as the refugees who masterminded the theft. He this
The fraud needs two main elements: a concentration of Somali refugees and a permissive and liberal welfare system with little oversight. Minnesota has both in abundance. There are over 60,000 Somalis in Minnesota, with most concentrated in the Minneapolis area, and the inept Tim Walz administration was ripe for fraud. There are many other areas in the country where Somali refugees were placed after being taken from their homeland during that nation’s civil war. Ohio, California, Washington, Utah, Oregon, and even Maine received thousands of Somali immigrants placed by NGOs like Catholic Charities. It would be naive and reckless for governments to think this fraud ring is only operating in Minnesota. We know it is happening in Maine, though we do not know the extent of the problem.
There have been convictions in Maine, but they are on a much smaller scale than those uncovered in Minnesota. The problem in Maine is that the current administration, led by Governor Mills and Lt Governor Bellows, wants more immigrants and aliens brought into the state, and they have declared Maine a sanctuary state to protect illegals. There is no benefit to bringing groups of illegals into an economy and business environment with one of the highest tax burdens in the country and one of the lowest average wages. You can see the strain on people’s homes, where money is tight for basic upkeep. One has to wonder what Mill’s motivation is, beyond a piece of the action. We have seen this with the Chinese and the illegal pot farms. Mill’s brother profited from the financing of the properties targeted for farming and trafficking. The ramifications are evident in the lack of action against the Chinese cartels that now number nearly 300 in Maine.
Somebody other than the Governor’s office has to investigate every social program where money could have been stolen, and indictments, prosecutions, and deportations must follow. These are taxpayer dollars being defrauded, and that is unacceptable under any circumstances, but is especially egregious in a state with a tax burden as high as Maine’s. This administration has gone out of its way to make Maine an illegal immigrant-friendly environment, and we are now seeing the pitfalls of such actions. Hopefully, we will find just how corrupt this current Governor is and how much she has profited from illegal activity. The last thing that should be done is to reward Mills with a 6-year trip to Washington as a Senator.
