Never in my lifetime did I ever think that Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) and I would be on the same ideological side of any issue. When I saw headlines over the weekend that Schultz was praising the Trump action to remove and arrest Nicolas Maduro from Venezuela and relieve the people of Venezuela of decades of oppression and Socialist rule that took one of the wealthiest countries on Earth and returned it to one of the poorest, I thought I was seeing prank headlines. The more I dug into it and researched, the clearer it became that Schultz, Trump, and I were on the same team. Hell has actually frozen over. It was a Kumbuya moment I will cherish forever. Even Senator John Fetterman, who was also in our huddle, looked nervous with our newest member of the Trump MAGA Team. She looked good sporting her red MAGA hat.
For over a decade, it did not matter the cause; if Trump said white, you could count on DWS to call a presser to announce her position as black. Schultz has been the poster child for Trump Derangement Syndrome, which she contracted when Donald and Melania were halfway down the golden escalator.
Schultz woke on Sunday morning to the greatest conundrum of her life. She had to muster the courage to publicly praise the Evil Orange Man for taking the initiative to be a man of his word and use the U.S. military to extract Maduro and his wife from their “home” on one of the largest military bases in the world, and unleash a universal display of joy and pride on the part of people who had fled Venezuela to escape the evil of the tyrant who had ruled and pilaged their homeland for decades. As these refugees picked up their flags, donned their national colors, and took to the streets to celebrate, Debbie Wasserman Schultz enjoyed her breakfast of poached crow before addressing the press in support of her Venezuelan constituents and her President, Donald Trump.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz represents Florida’s 25th Congressional District, a diverse area in South Florida covering parts of Broward and Miami-Dade Counties, known for its mix of communities from Weston to Hallandale Beach, encompassing diverse cultures and economic bases, often described as “Sawgrass to Seagrass”. Over the past 20 years, her district number has changed several times due to redistricting. Still, the beleaguered Schultz has been a fixture in South Florida politics, surviving numerous controversies, including stepping down as DNC chair. Her district has changed dramatically over the decades and has become the new home to thousands of the eight million Venezuelans who escaped their homeland during Maduro’s tenure. Schultz had no choice, for to speak out against Trump would put her in direct conflict with the voters she needs to keep her in political power.
Schultz’s stance on the Trump/Maduro situation puts her at odds with her Party, and as usual, her Party is on the wrong side of an 80/20 matter. The pictures are telling and could not be more graphic of how detached the Left is from the reality of the good that Trump did for Venezuela and its people. As Liberals took to the streets to protest Trump in Boston, New York, Chicago, and other large cities across America, Schultz’s neighbors took to the streets, waving their country’s flag, honking car horns, and celebrating Donald Trump for removing the head of the oppressive snake who had destroyed their rich and powerful nation. I will savor this moment for it will never repeat in my lifetime. I hope Debbie enjoyed her weekend of clarity and sanity before returning to the Party tent and her preferred company of Nancy, Sandy, and their newest BFF, Zohran.
