Maine’s Financial Priorities Are A Mess

BearPond Conservative Chronicles, Ray Cardello, 8/10/24, Volume 1-31
I was reviewing the headlines of the Maine newspapers this week, and two of them leaped off the screen at me because they were proof that the politicians in charge do not know what is happening. One detailed the millions of dollars Governor Mills was planning to spend to promote job opportunities to attract “racial, ethnic, and linguistic minorities” into the state’s workforce. Simultaneously, the second article delivered the sad news that the town of Mexico, Maine, was to close its police department. The closure of the local PD was not a financial situation but a lack of recruits to fill the open officer positions. We can thank the “Defund the Police,” for the stigma assigned to the police and public safety that now repels people willing to protect us. Before a dime is spent to attract others to the state, these nearsighted and narrow-minded public servants in Augusta best ensure that they have done everything necessary to protect the safety of Maine’s own. Safety should be the number one priority and government’s top responsibility at all levels, from local to Federal. Unfortunately, many politicians do not understand or see it this way. Governor Mills is one of those politicians who has abandoned her obligation to Maine’s citizens.
We have just experienced one of the most progressive and tumultuous legislative years in Maine’s history; Laws were passed that made Maine the most liberal state in the country for abortions, with the killing of an unborn fetus allowed up to the moment of birth. Maine is now a sanctuary state for abortions for minors from other states and for underage children looking for transgender care. We have seen public buildings used as shelters for illegal migrants and new construction of apartments for free housing for these same illegals. I have no qualms calling these people illegals because their first act to come into America was to violate the sovereignty of our southern border. They should not be housed but charged and deported.
We know of over 200 illegal, Chinese-owned pot farms, and not a single action has been taken to shut them down since April. There are also reports of some of the operations that were busted and shutdown being issued permits to reopen and start growing pot for distribution up and down our eastern coast. What is the motivation of Maine’s government and law enforcement to turn their backs on the safety of Maine residents to facilitate and support Chinese-funded pot operations?
Janet Mills will be forced from office by term limits in two years. In the meantime, as a lame-duck Governor, she will be doing whatever she can to support Progressive members of the state legislature, candidates for the same, and any liberal bills that will undoubtedly cost all Mainers money they have no choice in spending.
We see a movement on the National front to end this Progressive grip on America. Two members of The Squad, Representatives Bowman and Bush, have lost primary races and will seek work elsewhere. This movement has to gain momentum in Maine by electing conservative candidates with the values of Maine in mind to state office and get the Pine Tree State back on track.
