Our First Setback, Procedure Aborted

Personal Journey Entry # 21

Fate was a bit cruel today when two hours into the surgery to remove my Esophagus, my surgeons pulled the plug. It was not for lack of effort as Dr. Tony and Dr. John cut seven holes in my abdomen, trying to move my liver to gain access to my stomach. This is the first thing that has not gone our way so I have no right to be angry or distressed that today did not go as planned. I am terribly disappointed. It was like getting ready for the big game, winning the coin toss, and the game getting suspended as the kick-off was in the air. It’s time to get pumped up again. We have a meeting on Monday morning to discuss options.

We are trying to make some sense of this, but rationalizing it isn’t easy. This weekend, we will pray for guidance, and hopefully, our team will develop a Plan B. If it is God’s will, the next time will be the right time and the right plan.

Thanks for stopping by, and God Bless you and keep you.
