Sandy Cortez Questions Trump’s Mental State

By Ray Cardello for November 25, 2025, Season 33 / Post 24

This latest action by Representative Sandy Cortez (D-NY) is rich in so many ways and can be scrutinized in as many ways. She was responding to the President’s comments about the recent video by a small group of Democratic members of Congress and former military or intelligence personnel, which warned enlisted members of the military not to obey direct orders that are against the law. Trump said that each of these politicians is guilty of treason and should be put to death. Definitely hyperbole, but certainly not worthy of a complete mental stability exam, as she has requested. If that is the bar she wants to use, then Cortez had better not watch any of her own social postings or YouTube videos. Needless to say that Cortez has had her own share of hyperbole and meltdowns in the House and on the trail. The one thing she has not had is any tangible results for her six years of service in Congress. She has yet to have a written bill enacted into law, and it appears her career, like so many in Washington, involves simply running for office.

None of the six members who appeared in this video can give examples of any laws the President broke, and nobody seems to know what the exact purpose of the video was. There is more backtracking than there was foresight put into this production, but that is the norm for today’s politicians and public servants. This video fits perfectly into the political divide in America: the anti-Trumpers love it, and the pro-Trumpers want heads to roll for its creation.

As stated, I cannot defend Trump’s immediate reaction, but that is the most difficult aspect of being a Trump supporter. Defending his comments is difficult, but defending his results is not. Despite Congress proving its ineptitude every day, Trump is making significant progress toward fulfilling all his campaign promises. Still, nearly every one of his successes can be overturned by the next Democratic President. Very few of Trump’s wins, except for the Big Beautiful Bill, have been enacted via Executive Order rather than legislation. EOs have no lasting quality.

Blame for the current PR mess that defines Congress is shared between the members of Congress and a completely feckless media. There are no longer any trained journalists in the press. Nobody can phrase a follow-up question. The media holds the mic, asks their best question, and then nods their head in agreement with whatever passes the lips of the person being questioned. The bobbing head dog in the back of the family sedan could be equally effective. Jen Psaki of MSNBC commented this week that the Right-leaning is corrupting the media pool reporters. I interpreted that remark that Psaki would be very content with a 100% Left-leaning media. Sad, but expected from someone from MSNBC, CNN, or any of the legacy networks.

There are mixed beliefs about how the midterms will transform the second half of Trump’s second term, but it is obvious that the Democrats are gearing up for their usual course of investigations, impeachment inquiries, and stalling the Trump administration. As for Sandy, it is becoming increasingly clear every day that her eyes are on Chuck Schumer’s Senate seat. It appears Schumer is ready to retire and avoid an embarrassing primary challenge from Cortez, but that does not make her any more qualified. She was not qualified for the House and is no better prepared for the upper House. The sad thing is that she is from New York, which just elected a Communist to the Mayor’s office and will vote for anyone with a capital D after their name.
