The Closing Arguments Could Not Be More Different

By Ray Cardello for October 28, 2024, Season 29 / Post 29

We are in the final stretch of the 2024 Presidential Election, and the polls show this race is a virtual tie. To the naked eye, this is a difficult assessment to swallow as we can see the momentum has swung tremendously in favor of Donald Trump, and the energy disparity at the various rallies of all four principals is obviously more significant for Trump and Vance. You can also see and hear the defeated tone of the folks in mainstream media as they see this grand scheme to get Kamala Harris elected will not be successful. They are preparing their audience for defeat, and we are seeing ads for Democrat senators and representatives distancing themselves from Vice President Harris and attaching to Donald Trump. The last few election cycles have shown that polls are no longer a good barometer, and you are better off using your eyes and ears.

This weekend, both sides rallied and launched their final arguments, reflecting their performance and visions. The Harris/Walz campaign failed to explain their candidates’ current policy views and the many flip-flops in their beliefs. Harris abandoned selling her policies last week. She opted to use their energy and money to convince America that she represents the new generation of leaders and that Donald Trump is a dangerous fascist. Harris even trotted out Michelle Obama to reinforce the negative-Trump message. It is a very dark message, which aligns with how people feel after four years of Biden and Harris. Over 50% of people polled say they were better off under Trump. That is not a good message for Harris, who says she would change nothing from the Biden administration. Harris and Walz continue to be fact-checked, but unfortunately, more people hear their lies than the corrections.

Trump started the weekend with a three-hour interview with Joe Rogan, the highest-rated podcast on the net, and finished with a rally in the heart of deep-blue New York City. Trump and Vance packed 20,000 people into Madison Square Garden, and thousands more watched the rally on Jumbotrons outside MSG. The list of speakers for Trump was long and included Speaker Mike Johnso, Rep. Elise Stefanik, Rep. Byron Donalds, Tulsi Gabbard, Robert F. Kennedy Jr, and Elon Musk. These people were having fun. Smiles on every speaker’s face as they absorbed the energy of a packed MSG. It was all about positive messages. Of course, verbal shots were taken at Harris and Walz, but more focus was on the future.

Trump unveiled a new slogan for the final week: Harris broke it. Trump will fix it. That is a message of hope. That is turning the page from the malaise of Biden/Harris to making America great again. The Democrats made the sick comparison between Trump’s rally and the Nazi rally at the Garden in the 30s. That is worse than deplorable. That is outright desperation, and every time they compare Trump to Hitler, they are insulting half of the country. That didn’t work well for Hillary, but apparently, Kamala wasn’t paying attention.

If this race goes as currently predicted, we can close the book on Obama and the Socialist vision he and his people have for our future. Obama has been in control for twelve of the last sixteen years, and the way Congress attacked Trump, you could say he has been calling the plays for the previous four cycles. The people have had enough and are ready for Trump’s vision of America. That vision is for less government, more freedom and prosperity for Americans, a secure border, a safe world, and an even playing field globally for American businesses. It also means energy independence and an America First philosophy. After nearly two decades of negativity, we are ready to turn the page and throw away the book.
