This Is Too Rare An Opportunity To Be Squandered

By Ray Cardello for January 21, 2025, Season 30 / Post 15

The opportunity facing the Republicans is a once in a generation moment similar to the Reagan Presidency. Reagan and Trump were each succeeding two of the worst presidents ever to reside in the White House, with a resounding mandate from the voters. The Left will debate the presence of a mandate because of the relatively close vote counts, but Trump is the first President since Reagan to win the Electoral College and vote total, and winning every swing state gives Trump the bragging rights of a mandate. Trump is coming in with a high approval rating and one of the strongest support teams in history. The Republicans have a slim margin in both Houses, but if they stick together, they can accomplish much in the next two years, which is the window they should be looking at. The Republicans have a razor-thin advantage, and tradition shows the sitting party does not fare well in the midterm elections. If Trump can be as productive as he claims and the trend to the center-right holds, that tradition may not repeat in 2026.

Unease and anxiety have been replaced with confidence and excitement. The euphoric feeling must be backed with results. Trump is in the midst of a multi-day public signing of dozens of Executive Orders, pardons, and commutations. We know the Left will be apoplectic about every one of these actions, which means Trump needs to get them signed and then survive the challenges in court. The Left did not disappoint, and the suits were already being shot over the wall. Trump is signing up to 200 Executive Orders this week to reverse what Joe Biden did for four years and fulfill campaign promises to his constituents. But EOs are not enough as the next president can reverse them with the stroke of a pen. We need bills passed by this Republican congress that will have longevity.

The Left and their fledgling media have already begun the battle. They are doubling down on the fascist, Nazi rhetoric that has put them into a tailspin and hoping it will gain some traction with their ardent viewers. They will say whatever they can to negate anything Trump or his surrogates say or do. They still have people like the mayor of Chicago who have pledged to fight any action by Trump. Their cities are failing but will not yield to the MAGA movement. They are doubling down; if they go down, it will not be without a fight. Trump and Vance’s families attended a prayer service on Tuesday morning. They were lectured by the female minister to have mercy on the LGBTQ individuals and illegal aliens who deserve a place in America and should be left alone. It was embarrassing, and the President was obviously angered, but this person of the cloth would make the most of her moment in the spotlight.

Marco Rubio has been sworn in as the Secretary of State, but Chuck Schumer vows to stall the remaining cabinet appointments. This is our first battle, and it must be won quickly. Schumer is no longer in charge and must be replaced. We need these people in their respective places ASAP. Every day, we must wake up ready for battle; we know Trump will be.
