America is more divided today than at any time since the Civil War. Some think we came together after the deadliest battle ever fought by Americans, and some say the scars have never healed from the 1860s. We had our challenges again during the Civil Rights era of the 1960s, but nothing like we have now with Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) impacting half the country. So, will the country ever heal and come together again? The short answer is no. The more nuanced answer is that it will take the collapse of one of the existing parties, but only if it is replaced by a more moderate alternative, rather than a more radical one.
Both Parties have undergone significant reform in the last decade. The Republican Party has been reformed into the MAGA Party under the powerful influence of Donald Trump. Many Republicans do not like Trump as a person and find him unpresidential, but support his pro-American agenda at home and how he has returned us to a place of respect and power abroad. He may be the least respected President among Republicans due to his personality, but he is the highest-rated President since Ronald Reagan for results. And it is the results that make for a great America.
The Democrats, however, have not solidified on a new identity since Barack Obama shook things up in 2008. Obama ushered in a more socialist tone to the country that some long-standing Democrats could approve of, but many felt did not go far enough. Obama gave birth to the radical wing of the Party, The Squad, which has grown in numbers, but not necessarily in power, because they are so ineffective as legislators. They are just background noise that nobody appreciates. Obama did not deliver as promised. He did not deliver a better healthcare system, which he viewed as his greatest accomplishment. He gutted our defense and destroyed our respect globally. He did little to stimulate a growing economy. And in retrospect, his may have been one of the most corrupt administrations in our history, only being overshadowed by Joe Biden’s. The lack of cohesion and leadership in the Democratic Party has led to a new, more radical wing than The Squad. The emergence of Zohran Mamdani of New York and Omar Fateh of Minneapolis, who are likely to be elected mayors of their respective cities. These two candidates are running as Democratic Socialists, but in actuality, are Communists, and they are gaining the support of traditional Democrats. That is how far adrift the Party has gone. These men may get elected, but their policies will fail miserably, leaving the Democratic Party in total disarray. What replaces it will determine the future of the division of America.
At some point, the Left is going to have to acknowledge that the policies of the Right are better for all Americans. We must have strong borders and protect our allies in a world that is getting increasingly dangerous. We must have a strong military, not to go to war, but to deter our enemies from forcing us to war. We must bring manufacturing back to America because we cannot rely on our enemies abroad for essential products at home. We must abandon the eutopian view of a global society and protect our sovereignty and identity.
Lastly, we must work towards a government that we can trust, rather than one we have to defend ourselves against. We must recognize the danger of lifelong politicians and accept term limits for all levels of government. We must remove the funds of big business and foreign entities from the equation. We must dissolve the Deep State and its tentacles that want to invade and control every move of the people.
There are many variables, but the bottom line is that we cannot exist for long with this widening divide. It must be reversed, and I believe it will be the people, and not the government, that makes that happen.
