Tuesday was the first anniversary of the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. The day was remembered by random gunshots ringing out in George Floyd Square in downtown Minneapolis. How appropriate this action is for a sham of a day of note. A global celebration of the life of a five-time prison inmate.

Let us start with one premise. George Floyd’s life should not have ended under the knee of a rogue Minneapolis Police Officer. Nobody deserves to die with an officer’s knee on their neck for nearly nine minutes. But there is so much more to the story of George Floyd than the happenings of May 25, 2020. There is much of the story that no one may ever be aware of. The narrative of an unarmed black man at the hands of a white cop is all the story the Left and Main Stream Media need. Damn the details.

Every American embassy flew a BLM banner on their building on Tuesday to mark the first anniversary of the death of a repeat offender. There is no remembrance of the forty-plus police officers killed in the line of duty this year. There are no days of remembrance for these heroes. Nobody can even remember their names. These brave protectors of our peace will not be recognized today. The world looks on and laughs at us as we celebrate a person with a lifetime history of crime.

None of these Police officers who have been killed in the line of duty, protecting us, have looked down to see their families honored in the Biden White House. That is precisely where the family of George Floyd spent their lunch hour today.

Born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Floyd grew up in Houston, playing football and basketball throughout high school and college. He was a hip hop artist and served as a mentor in his religious community. Between 1997 and 2005, he was convicted of eight crimes. He served four years in prison after accepting a plea bargain for a 2007 aggravated robbery in a home invasion. In 2014, he moved to the Minneapolis area, residing in the nearby suburb of St. Louis Park, and worked as a truck driver and bouncer. In 2020, he lost his job as a truck driver, and then his security job during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The City of Minneapolis settled a wrongful death lawsuit with Floyd’s family for $27 million. This settlemeant was made before the case against Officer Chauvin was completed. This is George Floyd we celebrate. This is George Floyd who had a square in Minneapolis named in his honor. George Floyd died at the hands of Officer Chauvin after Police were called to the store where Floyd passed a counterfeit $20 bill.

There have been over forty Police officers killed in the line of duty in the first five months of 2021. Who is celebrating them? Who is naming town squares in their honor? Who even knows their names? We have such misguided attention in this Country. We celebrate those people who the Woke pressure us to elevate to celebrity status. It is sick. The tone for this misguided thinking starts at the top. Why did President Joe Biden feel necessary or correct to host the Floyd family at the White House? The answer is quite obvious. He did it to appease the Left and the Woke, for whom George Floyd is a hero.

What a terrible example for the young people of Minneapolis. Years from now, how will a parent answer the question from their child as they walk through George Floyd Square, “Mommy, Daddy, who was George Floyd?” The true answer will make even little heads shake in disbelief.
