Mike is in a Real Pillow Fight

By Ray Cardello for May 28, 2021. Season 1 / Post 132

So much for the Land of the Free, but Mike Lindell is living in the Home of the Brave. I wrote about Mike Lindell of My Pillow fame a few months ago. It appeared at that time that the world was crumbling down on his empire. Mike turned into the poster child for Cancel Culture, and his crime was backing President Donald Trump for re-election. In today’s America, that crime is tantamount to high treason. You will not be hung, but you might be destroyed.

Mike has been in a battle for most of his life from demons; drug and alcohol addiction. Mike Lindell was a down-and-out crack, cocaine, and alcohol addict during the ’80s and ’90s. He had lost his family, his home and had virtually nothing to live for. He managed to invent My Pillow in 2004 and started selling his product in mall kiosks and infomercials. In Minnesota, his American-based company has grown to now employ over 1,500 employees and has a yearly revenue of $375 Million. Not many can lay claim to that type of turnaround. In 2018, he met Donald Trump and had no idea the trouble ahead because of that meeting.

We wrote about Mike’s troubles with the distribution of his products back in January. It is estimated that Lindell has lost $65 Million since these boycotts began earlier this year. These are the companies that have dropped the My Pillow line of products:

  • Dollar General
  • ShopHQ
  • Mattress Firm
  • Kohl’s
  • Kroger
  • BJ’s
  • Wayfair
  • Bed Bath & Beyond
  • TSC/The Shopping Channel
  • H-E-B
  • Affirm
  • Fingerhut
  • Kinney Drugs
  • Colony Brands
  • Bluestream
  • Coborn’s
  • Chewy.com
  • JCP

From the small sample of people in my circle, this action against My Pillow may have repercussions as people may stop buying from these companies in protest.

Hurting his business was not the only target of the Woke. They also went after his ability to get his word out. Twitter and Facebook see Mike Lindell as more dangerous than the groups that recruit American-born terrorists to their cause. Lindell is banned, but these groups who change their identity as quickly as they are deleted still find a voice on Social Media. The crime Mike committed was supporting Donald Trump and questioning the credibility of the 2020 election. For those crimes, many of us are guilty.

The term Social Media does not apply to Facebook or Twitter as they are no longer a platform to share your thoughts but only the ones they approve. Lindell launched his platform in May. It was previewed to be an alternative to Facebook, but at first glance, it appears to be a self-promotion site for Lindell, My Pillow, and his beliefs. It does not appear to be gaining any momentum. It is difficult to break people’s habits and though some may be leaving Facebook or Twitter, it is proving to be a tough habit to break.

Lindell will probably survive, but future growth for this Minnesota-based company is questionable. Possibly the fight against the Cancel Culture and Woke movement will continue to gain momentum. It is even possible that Congress will get the courage to do the right thing and either break up these platforms or remove some of their protection.

I believe and hope that as we continue to come out of COVID, we will have the energy and desire to take on the entities that teamed up to change or cancel our lives. The Democrats and Social Media should be high on the list of targets. Maybe 2022 will be the first step as we pull the Democrat’s power from them in D.C. If so, we will all sleep better and maybe on a new My pillow.
