For fifty years in Washington, we have always heard these simple words from Joe Biden, “My word as a Biden.” We knew it was a matter of time before Joe Biden went back on his promise to Americans and pardoned his troubled son and cash cow, Hunter. The day came on Sunday, and the President ensured his decision’s timing insulated him from direct scrutiny and aligned with no press briefings while the President was away on a foreign trip. The comments made by the President on a Sunday night, one of the darkest news holes of the week, assume the American people will sympathize with his position as a Father who must use his power to cleanse his son of his many sins. President Biden’s comments about honoring the law and allowing it to play out in the multiple cases against Hunter were absolute fantasy. And just in case anyone gets around to filing charges against Hunter for his actions to shake down foreign companies and countries, Joe has pardoned his son for any crimes committed between 2014 and 2024. For an exemplary, upstanding Catholic like Joe Biden, this pardon is tantamount to going into the confessional, asking for forgiveness for specific sins, and then asking if you can throw in another Our Father and a few more Hail Marys just in case anyone remembers untold sins from the past.
More family pardons will come as Joe will have to give absolution to his brother Jim and all of the others who had received money as part of the laundering of foreign money procured by the family rainmaker, Hunter. His last pardon as he hands the White House keys to Trump will be himself. Joe has to protect himself from the same scrutiny and legal warfare that he and his Justice Department used to try to break Donald Trump.
Hunter had been found guilty of tax evasion and federal gun violations but had never been sentenced, which is significant. A felony conviction is incomplete until the defendant has been sentenced, so the pardon now usurps any record of these cases. Thanks to his father, Hunter will not be labeled as a convicted felon. Joe’s explanation for issuing this pardon is his son was unjustly persecuted and prosecuted. He claims that the only reason this happened to Hunter is his last name is Biden. Before Biden issues any other pardons for the family, maybe he should pardon Donald Trump and use the same logic. Of course, Joe Biden will never do that.
Biden is on his way to South Africa. KJP is on Air Force I with the President and addressed the press corps while in the air. The first question aimed at KJP was about the pardon. Her response was she was taking questions on foreign policy, and unless the reporter had another question, she would move on to the next person. In other words, KJP does not want to talk about the pardon or the Biden lie to Americans. Maybe that page from her scrapbook had already been boxed for the library along with the pardon.
