This is the third article about one of Donald Trump’s cabinet nominations, but I think it is important to point out a lethal weapon of the Left and mainstream media. We knew that the Left would pull out all the stops to delay or eliminate the people Trump wants on his team. We could not imagine the lengths they would go to to eradicate the nominees completely. Then again, I guess we could.
Two of Trump’s people dropped out of contention early without a fight. Congressman Matt Gaetz and Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister decided they did not want to fight for their posts. That is disappointing and disrespectful of Trump, who publicly named and backed them. The wise thing would have been to refuse Trump’s offer before it went public. The three nominees drawing the most opposition fire are Kennedy, Gabbard, and Pete Hegseth. And it is open season on Hegseth for every rock thrower on the Left.
What they are doing to Hegseth should be criminal. This attack is not political warfare but personal integrity assassination. The Left and its complicit media are fabricating scenarios to denigrate Hegseth and attributing the storylines to “anonymous” sources. No names are attached to any of the fantasy facts. Ten anonymous former FOX employees claim the Hegseth reported to work smelling of alcohol, was often late for scheduled appearances. No named employees, nor did they check the stories with anyone currently working with Hegseth. Will Cain and Rachel Campos Duffy have worked every weekend with Pete for 5 and 4 years, respectively, and nobody called them to verify. An unnamed woman accused Hegseth of sexual assault/rape. The police investigated and found no indication of a crime. The woman reported being in the superior position and that the two had discussed the need for a condom. Are these the actions and conversations a woman would have with an assailant? I doubt it.
Supposedly, as many as six Republican Senators have given these stories life, and their support of Pete Hegseth is questioned. He cannot afford to lose more than three Republicans. More importantly, Hegseth cannot stop building a case for himself. This ordeal is no longer a fight for the Sec DEF post but for his professional life.
These unprofessional clown journalists are protected from litigation because Pete Hegseth is a public figure. This situation must change. You cannot destroy someone’s reputation under the Anonymous byline. It may not be illegal, but it is unethical, and the person who does this should be blacklisted from ever working anywhere.
Insiders say that Trump has a Plan B in case the Hegseth nomination goes totally sour. Of course, this anonymous insider claims Trump has Ron DeSantis ready to step in, and a decision may be made this week. I have said in previous articles that I hope Trump will stick with Hegseth and give him a chance to negate these inflammatory accusations.
