Joe Biden and “Dr'” Jill were at Dover Air Base as the flag-draped remains of the thirteen young men and women who gave their lives in Afghanistan were returned to their families. There are a few things to discuss as we review how Biden handled himself with the families and during the solemn transfer at Dover.
There are numerous reports from these Gold Star Families who were disappointed, if not insulted, with their interaction with the Commander in Chief, who was the ultimate commander of their children. Some family members refused outright to even speak with the President. Most of these thirteen heroes were too young even to remember 9-11, which was why we were in Afghanistan for twenty years.
A couple of the parents commented how insensitive Joe Biden was to the loss of their child and wanted them to listen to his story of the loss of his son, Beau. Beau was in the military, but he died of cancer. He was not a casualty of a hillatious decision by the Commander in Chief. His poor performance harkened back to 2016 when in the same situation, he remarked to a grieving widow that she was too pretty to be in this place in her life. After that, he never should have been allowed on the same airfield with incoming dead heroes.
That is the problem with the Biden mystique. His longevity and lack of anything of significance as a Senator and then Vice President, made people feel comfortable with Joe. Comfort has no correlation to competence and let’s hope that this is lesson learned. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are falling so quickly in all polls, that it is already conceded by most that neither will be on the 2024 ticket. That is if either lasts that long.
The options here are not palatable. We continue to work to survive Biden as President or push for impeachment and move on to Kamala in the oval. There is no upside there. If, as some have suggested, both the President and VP are removed, Nancy takes her gavel to the resolute desk. I never want to see her bang that gavel from the big chair. We are in a no-win situation.
Seeing Biden checking his watch as every flag-draped coffin was carried from the plane and hearing the sad stories of his private time with the survivors, make it obvious he is way over his head as President. The transcripts leaked yesterday of Biden’s conversation with former President Ashraf Ghani are evidence of impeachable acts. He was pressuring the soon to flee President to claim a different status of the Taliban initiative than the reality. Biden wanted nothing to interfere with his successful withdrawal from the twenty-year war in Afghanistan. This was not necessary as Biden was preparing to botch the exodus all by himself.
All options considered, our best might be to preserve the Filibuster, continue to recruit viable candidates, and put in the effort necessary to flip both the House and Senate in 2022. It might not be our best option, it might be our only one, too. This is a sad time for America, but we have survived worse and our strength will persevere once again. God bless us.
