The economy is a numbers game. Do I feel the numbers are manipulated? Absolutely. An example is the unemployment numbers falsely reported for September and October and then corrected after the midterm elections. You cannot go into an election with bad economic indicators, which is usually terminal for the Party in power. Though I am not sure it would have mattered this year as the electorate is either okay with a lousy economy or simply ignorant of the facts. I am going with the latter.
A case in point of the level of awareness of government activity would be a couple of weeks ago on the game show Jeopardy. All three contestants failed to answer a clue that read, “She’s the first Black woman on the Supreme Court and the first justice to have been a federal public defender.” Nobody on this panel of geniuses knew who Ketanji Brown Jackson was, and this sent CNN host Don Lemon over the edge. It shouldn’t because he and his network are partly to blame for the lack of public knowledge of current events. If they had reported all the news accurately, one of these three might have picked up some cash.
But, back to the economy. We just came off a week where most Americans experienced the highest food costs in history due to Joe Biden’s inflation and/or recession. Airline rates are still so high that many college students stayed at school for the break, unable to pay for a round-trip flight. The traffic on the highways was lighter than usual because gas and diesel prices were still too high for leisure travel. People in cold climate regions are starting to see home heating bills, which will further pinch the budget. Things are not getting better, and for most folks, the economy is still on the slide. But not according to our President Joe Biden. He addressed the nation last week, looked us right in the eye, and told us how strong his economy is. How does he afford the gas for that light he is shining in America’s eye? I guess when you are staying for free in a $20 Million beachfront home on Nantucket for Thanksgiving week, everything looks great, even his horrendous economy.
Biden has been lying to America about the economy since he and Jen Psaki were trying to convince everyone that the economic downturn and rising gas prices were all the fault of Vladimir Putin. It didn’t work then and will not now. Or will it? It worked for the Democrats in the Midterms. One thing looming is the possibility of a rail strike next week. This work stoppage was not supposed to happen as Joe Biden took a victory lap in September. The “Union” President bragged that he could get everyone on board to new contracts and avoid a crippling strike. Like the economy numbers, this false info worked for the Midterms, and now we can deal with the reality.
The economy, gas prices, inflation, recession, rail strike, and student loan forgiveness were all misrepresented by Biden and the Republicans. Biden promised the most transparent administration in history, and he is correct. We can see every lie this President is feeding us. The only thing we can count on is two more years of Biden and mistruths ahead of us.
