Governor Janet Mills and House Speaker Ryan Fecteau are in over their heads. They are small-time actors trying to play a big-time game, and the two stunts they pulled this week indicate that this will not end well for these power-wannabes. They think they have made scores against the Republicans, but all they have done is take center stage in the national media, and neither looks good in the spotlight. They are not ready for prime time or the public backlash they will receive.
The saga began long ago with Janet Mills. She has been on a spending and tax spree, making Maine one of the most expensive states to live in. Maine is beautiful only because of its people and natural resources, not because of the business, economic, or educational environments impacted by Democrat policies. Her actions to bring thousands of illegal immigrants to Maine have hurt the legal immigration used for seasonal jobs and put a tremendous strain on affordable housing. Her hands-off edict has allowed the unlawful Chinese cartel-owned pot farms to multiply and damage Central Maine communities while her husband has made a fortune helping the cartels purchase these properties. She has promoted Maine as a sanctuary for minors seeking abortions or transgender care. Her latest crusade of allowing males to participate in female sports has put her at odds with President Trump and the DOJ. Her defiance of his Executive Order to prohibit boys from girl’s sports or locker rooms will probably result in the loss of $500 Million in her final two years in office. A recently started petition to recall Mills has over 20,000 signatures in its first week and is gaining momentum. The voters, as they should, may have the last word on her fate.
Speaker Fecteau, a Mills appointment and first openly gay speaker, flexed his muscles last week to silence a dissenter of the Mills/Democrat agenda. He led a move to censure State Representative Laurel Libby without any legal cause, and by a Party vote of 75-70, he banished Libby from the House floor and her voting rights. Fecteau and the Democrat members of the House would not even allow Libby to make a public statement in her defense on the House floor. Fecteau has put Libby in the corner until she apologizes for her stands, but worse, he has rendered nearly 10,000 residents of Auburn/Minot citizens without representation. There are no statutes or ethics rules violations on Libby’s part. Her sin is being a powerful voice in opposition to the insanity of the Democrat Party and a potential candidate for Governor to succeed Mills, who will term out in two years. This egregious act against Laurel Libby is garnering massive national attention on cable news and the editorial pages of major newspapers. Libby has no procedural way to regain her standing except to apologize, and this strong-willed individual will not bend a knee to Ryan Fecteau or anyone demanding she apologize for her political stances. This matter will be settled in the courts or by the people.
The Democrats, with their abandonment of common sense, may have appealed to the ultra-liberals who have come to Maine to change it into California of the East, but traditional Mainers have had enough and are ready to fight to regain this once great state. Mills and Fecteau should note what happened to Zelenskyy when he pushed too far. There is a new sheriff and movement in this country determined to right the wrongs of the Progressive movement, and you two minor players will be nothing but speed bumps in history as they, and the people, erase you and your corrupt deeds.
