What Did We Learn From a Floating Balloon

By Ray Cardello for February 6, 2023 Season 16 / Post 9

Many of us were transfixed to our television screens, watching a 125′ balloon navigate its way across our country. Many of us were angry that our airspace had been violated and our President was too timid and compromised to shoot down a balloon that the Chinese were using to spy on our most essential military bases in the Midwest. As the story unfolded and the facts became clear, this was another case of the Biden Administration keeping America in the dark. It turns out the White House and Pentagon knew about this balloon for nearly two months and did nothing to stop its progress. The government was forced to come clean when an observant citizen saw the balloon with their naked eye. If not, we may never have been told we had been violated by our number one adversary.

Wednesday and Thursday were highlighted by China and Washington battle ing for who was the superior liar. The White House deflected to the Pentagon, and the Pentagon was frustrating the media with more denials than disclosures. Monitoring and weighing our options was the new taking classified documents seriously. Transparent? Like a brick wall. The Chinese tried to deny any culpability. Then they admitted it was a weather balloon and, finally, to surveying our mainland. China saw no problem or violation of international law. They claimed it was adrift in the jet stream as they navigated it over our military bases. Every bit of the news now needs to have a fact checker across the bottom of the screen.

The Pentagon claimed they had disarmed the equipment on the balloon, which is quite a trick as they had no idea what equipment was on the airship. The nose keeps growing. The balloon was finally destroyed by a missile fired from an F-22 as it drifted off the South Carolina coast but still in our airspace. Immediately, the President claimed he gave the order to eliminate the airship on Wednesday. Apparently, the Pentagon doesn’t listen to our President either. Have you noticed how many “claims” there are in this story?

So this incident may be over, and, of course, Biden is using Trump to take the edge off his actions. He claimed that balloons had been over our airspace during Trump’s term. Many quickly shot down the accusation, including Trump, people in his administration, and pentagon personnel. Sorry, Joe, you are on your own. What have we learned this week?

First, we should never use Biden and transparency in the same sentence. Whether it is Karine Jean-Pierre or any spokesman from the Pentagon or State, you will not get a straight answer to any question. We have learned that whether our Southern Border and now, our airspace, Joe Biden has no concern for our boundaries or sovereignty. We learned that Joe takes protecting classified documents as seriously as our airspace. Please don’t bother me unless my Corvette is in danger. We finally realized that our Commander in Chief has little control over our military. What does all of this mean in the future? It showed weakness on the part of America, specifically our President. If this was a test balloon sent to America by the CCP, then they learned a great deal about how far they can push our buttons. Experts predict a military conflict involving China in the next two to three years. God help us if those experts are correct and if Joe Biden is still behind the Resolute Desk.
