Is Joe Shadowing Donald?

By Ray Cardello for July 13, 2021 Season 2 / Post 29

Donald Trump is still having an impact on Joe Biden. It appears that Biden is shadowing Trump looking for situations he should be reacting to but cannot do so on his own. I am not sure if this is due to Joe Biden’s cognitive deficiencies or his incompetence in responding to Trump rather than being proactive. It is comical to watch, but as I have noted previously, we all should want Biden to succeed. Just not in a second election. It is imperative that we be 100% confident in the President’s ability, not necessarily agree, but have faith he is in charge. In Biden’s case, we have confidence in neither his ability nor his presence. This lack of preparedness is painful to observe and dangerous for our country on the international and security stages.

Donald Trump was unusually quiet for the first six months after his defeat. I feel that this was welcomed by most. In the last month, he has stepped up his game. He is holding weekly rallies, called the Save America Tour, that attract thousands and the media’s attention. He hints at another run for the White House in 2024, which has some thrilled and others in panic mode. He received a massive reception at the 2021 CPAC this weekend and won the straw vote easily.

Trump keeps all of the Republican talking points alive, and the pressure is squarely on Biden to step up his game. Biden is proving to be no match for the man he defeated in November. Whether it is Second Amendment Rights, Election Reform, Border Security, Energy Independence, National Security, Trump is pointing out the successes of his administration, and in so doing, the deficiencies of Biden and Harris.

There have been three significant issues that Trump has taken action on or has talked extensively to the media that has Biden on his heels and responding,

  1. Border Crisis. Kamala Harris was placed in charge of the Border situation months ago and, other than a photo-op trip to Guatemala had been dormant. A couple of weeks ago, Trump announced he would take a group of lawmakers and the media to the Texas Border. This trip forced Harris to put together a quick trip to El Paso, 800 miles north of the hot spot on the Rio Grande.
  2. High Tech Dominance and Abuse. Trump has been battling with Facebook, Google, and Twitter for years and is currently suspended. Trump has filed a massive class-action suit against the Social Media Giants. This action is putting a spotlight on their unfair censorship and its impact on the election process. This act by Trump has forced Biden to take a stand against Social Media who had a big say in getting him elected.
  3. Gun Violence. Trump has been a big supporter of the Second Amendment and can separate legal guns from the illegal arms used in big-city violence. He also has been against the Defund the Police movement from its inception. Biden had to come out today and talk about the need to bolster police presence and budgets. This stance will not sit well with AOC and her Squad.

These are just what has happened in the last few weeks. Trump can smell blood in the water. He will keep up the pressure and has the energy to rally his way back to the White House. This battle will be fun to watch and will also be a good thing for America. By pushing Biden into action, he is at least getting Biden to do something positive. In the end, Trump will be able to take credit for any gains. Trump is playing chess while Biden cannot even play checkers.
